BA Events Management
About this course
Events management is the discipline of planning, organising, and delivering live experiences across the full spectrum of event types, from corporate conferences and product launches to music festivals, sports competitions, charity galas, and cultural celebrations. Effective event management requires a distinctive blend of commercial acumen, creative thinking, logistical rigour, and the ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly when things change. The global events industry is resilient and growing, and skilled events managers who combine specialist knowledge with genuine professional experience are in consistent demand. At Robert Gordon University, this four-year full-time BA (Hons) is highly practical, providing you with a blend of core management knowledge and specialist event management skills. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities, giving you extensive professional experience in live event contexts alongside the academic content of the degree. You will have the opportunity to attend guest lectures and events, organise live events as part of your studies, and participate in course-related study trips, all of which develop your practical competence and your understanding of how the industry operates at a professional level. The year abroad broadens your perspective on how events are conceived and delivered in different cultural and commercial contexts. Graduates of events management programmes work across the full range of the industry, including corporate events, music and arts festivals, sport events, destination management, hotel and venue operations, and charity fundraising. Graduate roles include events co-ordinator, events manager, production manager, venue manager, and conference organiser. The project management, budgeting, logistics, communication, and client management skills the degree develops are also valued in broader project management, marketing, and operations roles across many sectors. Some graduates move into related areas including hospitality management, tourism, or public relations. Postgraduate study in events management, hospitality, sport management, or tourism offers routes to specialise or advance to senior leadership positions.
