BSc Artificial Intelligence
About this course
Artificial Intelligence is no longer a speculative field: it shapes how information is found, how medical diagnoses are made, how financial risk is assessed and how autonomous systems navigate the physical world. As a discipline it combines theoretical foundations drawn from mathematics, logic and statistics with the computational tools and algorithmic techniques needed to build systems that can learn, reason and make decisions. Understanding AI at this level, not just how to use existing tools but how to design, evaluate and critically examine intelligent systems, is one of the most significant intellectual investments a student can make for the coming decades. At King's College London this three-year full-time BSc gives you a comprehensive grounding in AI theory and practice, with all teaching anchored in principles of safe and trusted AI. You will develop analytical skills alongside practical competence, learning how to build and evaluate AI systems and how to think carefully about the ethical, social and technical dimensions of deploying them. The degree includes a year abroad option, giving you the opportunity to study in an international context. The curriculum reflects the current state of the field while preparing you to adapt as it continues to evolve. Graduates in Artificial Intelligence are in exceptionally high demand across a wide range of sectors. Many go on to roles in machine learning engineering, AI research, software development, data science, robotics and computational modelling. Others find positions in finance, healthcare, defence, logistics, gaming and technology product development. The combination of mathematical rigour, programming fluency and critical thinking the degree develops makes graduates highly versatile. Postgraduate study in AI, machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing or related fields is also a common route for those who wish to specialise further or pursue research.
