BA Content Creation
About this course
Content creation has emerged as a distinct professional discipline as the media landscape has fragmented and the demand for material to fill digital channels has grown exponentially. Where once content was produced by large organisations with specialist production teams, today it is produced by individuals, small studios, brands, and institutions of every size, for audiences that range from a few thousand loyal followers to many millions. A degree in content creation treats this seriously, developing the strategic, creative, and technical skills needed to produce content that performs well across digital and social platforms. At Nottingham Trent University this three-year full-time degree develops your ability to research, plan, produce, and distribute content across a range of formats and channels. You will learn to write, shoot, edit, and present, and to understand the platform dynamics, audience analytics, and community management practices that determine whether content reaches and engages its intended audience. The curriculum covers video, audio, written and visual formats, and you will develop an understanding of how content fits within broader marketing and communications strategies. NTU's strong industry connections and its focus on employability mean the programme is closely aligned with what employers and clients in the digital media landscape actually need. Content creation graduates move into roles in social media management, brand content production, video and podcast production, digital journalism, influencer marketing, copywriting, and digital marketing more broadly. Both media companies and in-house marketing teams at commercial organisations are significant employers of graduates with these skills. Some graduates build independent careers as freelance content creators, either working for clients or developing their own channels and audiences. Postgraduate study in digital media, marketing, journalism, or communications is also available for those who want to develop further expertise or move into research or senior roles.
