You will develop the essential journalism and editing skills needed in a rapidly changing media industry, including news writing, feature production, interviewing, digital publishing, and multimedia storytelling. The programme includes a sandwich year providing professional experience in a newsroom or media organisation, a year abroad that gives you an international perspective on journalism, and work placement opportunities throughout, all ensuring that your academic learning is grounded in real professional practice. Graduates go on to careers in print, broadcast, and digital journalism, working for national and regional newspapers, broadcasters, online news organisations, magazines, and corporate communications teams. The skills you develop, including research, writing, critical analysis, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and quickly, are also valued across public affairs, communications, public relations, and policy. Many graduates also continue to postgraduate study in journalism or related media fields, developing specialist expertise in areas such as data journalism, investigative reporting, or broadcast production.
