MSci Physiotherapy - integrated
About this course
Physiotherapy is a clinical health profession concerned with restoring and maintaining movement and function when they are affected by injury, illness, disability or ageing. Physiotherapists work across the full range of health and care settings, from hospital wards and operating theatres to community clinics, sports facilities and people's own homes. They draw on a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and neuroscience to assess their patients and design individually tailored treatment programmes that may include exercise, manual therapy, education and a range of other evidence-based approaches. At Brunel University London the integrated programme runs over four years full time at master's level, building on strong foundations in clinical science and progressing through increasing complexity and specialisation. You will develop the clinical reasoning, communication skills and professional judgement that define effective physiotherapy practice, alongside the research literacy and academic depth that distinguish the integrated master's from a standard undergraduate qualification. Clinical placements throughout the programme give you direct experience working with patients across different specialties and settings, and you will learn to work as part of the wider multidisciplinary healthcare team. Physiotherapy is a regulated profession, and qualifying graduates are eligible to register with the Health and Care Professions Council, which is required to practise in the UK. Graduates work across NHS hospitals, community services, mental health teams and the independent sector, as well as in sports and performance settings, occupational health and international contexts. The integrated master's qualification also positions graduates well for clinical specialisation, research, management and academic roles. Some graduates go on to postgraduate study or clinical doctoral programmes, developing expertise in areas such as musculoskeletal physiotherapy, neurological rehabilitation or paediatric practice.
