BA Marketing
About this course
Marketing is about understanding people and persuading them, connecting what organisations offer with what audiences actually want and need. It draws on psychology, sociology, economics, data analysis and creative thinking to shape how brands communicate, how products are positioned and how relationships between organisations and their audiences are built and maintained. It operates across every kind of organisation, from small charities to global corporations, from public sector bodies to start-ups. At Coventry University, this three-year full-time programme includes a sandwich year, a work placement and a year abroad, offering a particularly well-rounded preparation for a professional career. The sandwich and placement elements give you structured industry experience, working in marketing roles where you can apply what you have learned and build the professional confidence and network that a career in this field requires. The year abroad adds an international dimension that is directly relevant to marketing, since understanding how brands operate and audiences behave across different cultural contexts is increasingly essential. You will explore consumer behaviour, digital and social media marketing, brand strategy, market research, advertising, communications and the data analytics that now underpin much of marketing decision-making. The programme also engages with the ethical dimensions of the field, including questions about targeting, personalisation and commercial influence. You will develop both analytical and creative capabilities, learning to interpret data and translate insight into effective strategy and communication. Graduates go into careers in digital marketing, brand management, market research, content strategy, advertising, public relations, product management and commercial management across a wide range of sectors. The combination of analytical and creative skills developed through marketing is valued in many fields beyond traditional marketing roles. Further study in marketing, data analytics or business is an option for those who want to deepen their expertise or move into management.
