Paediatricians

As a paediatrician, you are a doctor who specializes in looking after children and teenagers. You help them when they are ill, injured or worried about their health. You also help parents understand what is happening with their child's wellbeing.

Your day will be varied. You might see a baby for a check-up, diagnose a child with an ear infection, or work with a team to help a teenager with a long-term condition. You could work in a hospital, a doctor's surgery, or at a community clinic. You will need to be good at talking to children in a way they understand, because they may struggle to explain how they feel or what hurts.
