BSc Data Analytics
About this course
Data analytics is the discipline concerned with extracting meaning from the vast quantities of information that modern organisations and systems generate. In a world where data is produced by financial markets, internet traffic, healthcare records, social media, sensors, and supply chains in quantities that would have been unimaginable a generation ago, the ability to collect, process, analyse, and communicate insights from data has become one of the most sought-after capabilities in the global economy. At the University of Strathclyde, this four-year, full-time programme develops your skills in statistical analysis, data science, programming, and machine learning alongside the mathematical foundations and domain knowledge needed to apply these tools to real-world problems. You will learn to work with large and complex datasets, to design and implement analytical workflows, to build predictive models, and to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. A year abroad option is available, giving you the opportunity to study data analytics in another national context and to broaden your perspective on how data-driven approaches are being applied across different industries and cultures. Graduates of data analytics programmes are in strong demand across virtually every sector of the economy. Roles in financial services, technology, healthcare, marketing, logistics, energy, government, and consulting are all accessible, and the combination of quantitative rigour and practical data skills the degree develops is valued by employers who need people who can turn data into decisions. Many graduates also continue to postgraduate study in data science, statistics, artificial intelligence, or domain-specific fields such as health informatics or financial analytics, building on the strong technical foundation the undergraduate degree provides.
