About this course

Description Design for People is aimed at students who are professionally bold, possess a social and societal awareness, wish to adopt an exploratory, critical and open-minded approach and want to focus their design practices on social agendas in an interdisciplinary forum. We teach theory, processes and methods to make you develop design projects which can solve human, social and societal challenges. You learn to use stakeholder involvement as a foundation for better design solutions master complexity when designing within the human, social and societal challenges design relations for improved living conditions We work with thematic approaches such as empathic design, critical design, speculative design, participatory design, co-design and transformative design. You will explore new ways to address visions of a socially sustainable future by focusing on design, users, stakeholders, creativity, empathy, ethics, complex problem solving, and critical thinking. You will also be skilled to enter the complex space between people and technology, with the aim to make new technology desirable for future users. Design for People reinforces and challenges the fields of industrial design, fashion design, textile design, accessory design and communication design. The curriculum can be found here Career Opportunities Specialising in Design for People will equip you with knowledge and skills to challenge the status quo and point towards a more socially sustainable future. Design processes and design methodology can make a difference in all areas of society. Depending on your speciality, you can choose to work with e.g. fashion, jewellery, shoes, interior or graphic design, and perhaps you will be able to get a job at e.g. Ecco or LEGO, which are some of Design School Kolding’s regular collaboration partners. In addition, your training gives you a variety of general competences that can also get you a job in areas that you do not usually associate with design, for instance health care, local government, etc. Admission To be admitted to this programme, you must meet requirements.
