About this course

Description The MA in Applied Cultural Analysis teaches students how to conduct cultural analysis, solving concrete problems in corporations, public institutions and NGO’s. Students are trained in ethnographic field work, in organizing projects and communicating results. Students work in close contact with the job market, supported by cutting-edge university research known for shaping cultural analysis in Scandinavia. The MA in Applied Cultural Analysis is an innovative English-taught programme that applies the tools of cultural analysis to the workplace, opening new career opportunities in both the public and private sector. It combines the resources of Lund University in Sweden and University of Copenhagen in Denmark – connected by a 60 minute commute across the Γ–resund Bridge. Career Opportunities The MACA programme combines hands-on corporate assignments with research-based knowledge. The programme focuses on how cultural analysis can contribute to the understanding of cultural phenomena in an occupational setting, As a student in the programme, you will deal with questions like: How are culture and economy intertwined in the analysis of new market and consumer preferences? How can cultural analysis contribute to processes of innovation? How do processes of globalization and local lifestyles intersect in regional contexts? How do the predicaments of cultural diversity challenge established concepts of ethnicity and class, gender and age? The master's programme is developed at the two universities in close co-operation with a number of companies with an interest in hiring employees with qualifications within innovation, project management, market analysis and communications. Graduates from MACA are most likely to find employment within the health care sector, public planning, tourism, marketing or media. All applicants will be subject to an overall individual assessment, whereby applicants who acquire the highest number of points in accordance with the selection criteria are granted admission.
