About this course

Description An MSc in Geography and Geoinformatics gives you the opportunity to focus your efforts within a specialised field of geography. In the programme, you can work in depth with topics such as urban and regional development, globalisation, sustainability, resource management, global environmental and natural processes and applied geoinformatics. Also, you will learn how to analyse local, national and global issues on an interdisciplinary basis. The programme thus gives you plenty of opportunity to compose your own academic profile. The work methods of the programme include classroom teaching, project work and field studies. You will acquire both academic and practical knowledge as well as analytical and methodological qualifications. You can choose between 6 specialisations: Ecological climatology and climate changes; Environment, Society and Development; Geomorphology - Processes and Landscapes; Global Environment Soil Sciences; Remote Sensing of the Bio-Geosphere, and Transformation of Cities and Landscapes Read about the programme structure and specialisations Career Opportunities Geographers are both generalists, who can think interdisciplinarily and incorporate different perspectives, and specialists, who are experts within one area. This combination of β€˜breadth' and β€˜depth' means that geographers find employment in many different areas, including: In the private sector, e.g. consulting engineering firms In public administration, e.g. as urban planners, project coordinators, environmental workers, business development consultants, student and career counsellors or as academic workers in international organisations As consultants for special interest groups As researchers and upper secondary school teachers Admission You will need to have a Bachelor degree with specific courses to be admitted to the programme.
