About this course
Sustainable use of resources is imperative for the future of humankind, nature and planet Earth. Many of the research fields included in the Doctoral Programme in Multidisciplinary Research in Renewable Natural Resources integrate basic and applied research. Natural processes in phenomena spanning scales from the molecular to the global are explored together with their socio-economic aspects and related environmental policy context. This multidisciplinary research community is based at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry. The programme conducts both basic and applied research that addresses the societally relevant challenges found in agriculture, microbiology, food, forestry and their value chains. The doctoral programme provides in-depth training and education required for careers in both academic research and expert appointments locally and abroad. The doctoral degree is based mainly on independent scientific research and collaboration within the research community.
