About this course

Integrated engineering takes a deliberately broad approach to one of the most important disciplines of the modern world. Where many engineering degrees specialise early, integrated engineering develops competence across the principal engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, electronic, and civil principles, alongside the systems thinking and design skills that allow engineers to work across boundaries. It is an approach grounded in the recognition that the most significant engineering challenges, whether in energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, or technology, rarely respect disciplinary borders. The New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering, based in Hereford, offers this three-year, full-time degree with a distinctive pedagogical philosophy that prioritises project-based and employer-connected learning from the start. NMITE was established to rethink engineering education for the twenty-first century, and the integrated engineering programme reflects that mission. You will work on real engineering challenges from early in the programme, developing your technical competence in a context that mirrors the collaborative, problem-solving nature of professional engineering practice. You will study the core engineering sciences, including mechanics, thermodynamics, materials, electronics, and structures, while also developing skills in design, systems analysis, and communication that professional engineers need daily. A typical entry tariff of 88 UCAS points makes the programme accessible to students from a wider range of prior academic backgrounds. Integrated engineering develops both technical confidence and the adaptability to work across different engineering domains. The project-based approach produces graduates who are used to taking ownership of problems and working with others to solve them. Graduates enter a wide range of engineering roles including systems engineering, product development, civil and structural engineering support, manufacturing, and technical project management. The breadth of the degree is particularly valued in smaller organisations and startups where engineers are required to wear multiple hats. Chartered engineer status is a natural progression for many.
