Cyber security has become one of the defining concerns of the digital age. As organisations of every kind rely more completely on networked systems, the ability to protect those systems against attack, detect threats before they cause damage and respond effectively when breaches occur has become critically important. Cyber security professionals need both deep technical knowledge and the practical judgement to apply it in fast-moving, high-pressure situations, because attackers are sophisticated and the consequences of failure can be severe. You will also develop a comprehensive portfolio of work that demonstrates your abilities across different areas of security practice, which is particularly valuable in a field where employers want evidence of what you can actually do. Graduates go on to work in roles including security operations, penetration testing, incident response, security engineering, compliance and risk management across sectors ranging from financial services and healthcare to defence and government.
